The Restoration Sequence: How Cyber-Resilient Organizations Decide What Comes Back First

Thank you to everyone who joined the recent presentation of The Restoration Sequence.

The session explored a challenge that becomes very real during ransomware events and extended technology outages: knowing which systems are important is not the same as knowing what should be restored first.

We discussed how organizations can:

  • Identify the workflows that deliver their most critical outcomes.

  • Map the applications, infrastructure, vendors, teams, facilities, and key roles that keep those workflows moving.

  • Understand the limits of manual workarounds and degraded operations.

  • Build restoration bundles that return usable business capability—not just isolated systems.

  • Bring business, cyber, IT recovery, continuity, and executive leaders into one restoration decision process.

The audience raised excellent questions about the role of the BIA, how many workflows to begin with, who owns restoration priorities, and how to keep dependency information current as the organization changes.

The discussion reinforced the central idea behind the presentation:

Criticality is a label. Sequence is a decision.

The Restoration Sequence begins with a simple question:

What must we restore first to get the organization moving again?
